Makers & The K-2 Curriculum
In designing the Maker Day C.R.E.A.T.E! program for K-2 teachers, we focussed on a specific range of key learning areas and curriculum outcomes in line with the content delivered in the program. We are reproducing these here, including not only outcomes from the existing NSW Syllabus, but also comparative outcomes from the Australian Curriculum where applicable.
This is not to suggest these are the only learning areas that could benefit from a makerspace! By their very nature makerspaces are cross-curricular, collaborative, and dynamic depending on the needs of their members and the projects they’re working on. Consider this list as a starting point for the conversation at your own school. What do you want your makerspace to be?
